Not posting, saving money and travelling

How you doin'?

Once again i've been pretty absent, having about zero time to post here, between class and working at a clothing store, i wasnt having much time at all for me, for my health and even for all the paper i should deliver whatsoever.

Being a complete nerd like i used to be and not being able to do both (work and study - studying fashion is not as easy as it seems after all!!), i chose over my studies, of course :).
Did i say i already started two other courses before this one and didnt finish?? Well, you see my despair to finally finish this one, dont you?! Haha.

Of course that along with my job went my possibilty of saving money to travel for a long while like i was planning. It's already hard to save anything with a job, imagine without it =/. Like the curious unquiet soul i am, i cannot give it up already, so i'll keep saving somehow and i will go travelling, mark my words! ;)

In the end, all the real good things are not that easy to get, right?

The good thing is? I'm going back to my hometown in my looovely Bahia for a few days soon, can't tell how homesick i am!! It'll be  a breath of fresh air moments to relax and happiness, that's for sure, cause all is good in Bahia.

Happy Friday Thirteen for you all :)

Quick day trip to Búzios and Arraial do Cabo...I want more!

I've been out for a while, i finally got myself a job so i can save some money and do some REAL travelling by the end of the year...where to? Honestly i dont even know yet! I do know, i'm going somewhere far for a change. :)
This time on the other hand, i went to spend the weekend with my family for my brothers birthday in Macaé, where there's not really much to see or do and the restaurants are all posh.
Well, saturday we went and spent the day in two beeeeautiful places in Rio, i just wish i had more time, to really discover these places.
First we did a quick stop in Arraial do Cabo, amazing beaches!! I only could see one though...got some great photos anyway :)

Búzios has the most cute little village center, much less simple than arraial do cabo's and i also only had time to see one of the great beaches they have to offer, the one close to the famous "rua das pedras" where's all te restaurants, one club or another, etc.

My mother's poor attempt of taking a shot of me with Brigitte Bardot statue in Búzios :D
Oh, yeah...this is not the proper review of those two places, i'll write about both when i have the chance to go there for longer! :) This is just a glimpse really, haha.

Rain in Rio and new bags

It was fairly sunny these days here in Rio, but all of a sudden this storm started =/
I just hate storms..no kidding. A very good thing to do when its raining anyway would be watching a good film, wich i just did by seeing "Into The Wild" there's just not enough words to describe how much i loved it!!

I highly recommend it my fortunates!
Another great thing to go through time when its raining is reading a good book, u might think its childish reading fantasy books or whatever, but i really like it, its not dull like the every-day routine of our lives so yeah, i do find it entertaining. The one of the moment is "Beautiful Creatures" so much more there to be said than on the film, so...read it, don't watch it!

Well i was supposed to write here about these bags a week ago, but oh well, you all know me! :D
A few weeks ago i went to this great store and fetched myself two greeeat bags! Its all leather so i'm sure itll last for a long while. (i hope)

This one because its quite basic and itll go with pretty much anything...

This one because its shineeey!! And it is really big so will fit all my junk in :D

Anyways, short post for you just so i wont lose the habit here...^^"

Some Beauty Stuff

It's not my intention to make this entirely a fashion blog, in fact, i didnt even think about making it about fashion at all. Still, i guess this helps me on keep this blog going so i'll make posts fashion related as well. If you come here for the travel tips, nooo worries, they'll keep coming. ;)

I went to the mall yesterday and apparently found my way into one of the Granado's store,well...that happened:
(got myself something i really wanted it's been a while!)

I adore their products, it's really good quality but its not one of the cheapest stores around here...It's worth a visit to see what they offer anyway, the stores and products have a vintage look to it, loovely! Btw, they really good nail varnishes along with all sorts of products to strengthen nails, etc.

(relaxing gel, anti-stress)

This gel came as a freebie and i can say it is really good for that day your muscles are all sore and you need to relax a bit, works like magic!

(cute lil package)
A note..I've gotta say their packages are starting to resemble Benefit's! A little cheeky and cute ones :)

(concealer camouflage trio)

THAT, ive been wanting this for a while now. It's one of those "trios" that come with the lilac coloured cream and two more in beige. It hides imperfections such as eye bags and brownish/dark spots u may have on your not so lovely skin, like i do! haha My skin is not that bad actually, but sometimes i get some spots on my face on the most inconvenient moments, i'm sure you know what i mean...haha. Anyways, i used it already and it works peeerfectly! Also, for me it will surely last for a long time cause like i said, i dont have spots often, i do have  naasty eyebags though, so, we'll see. For now i am fairly satisfied with this. :)

PS. Sorry for not putting the pictures of the trio opened, i'll put it here as soon as possible!

Cheerie Cheers my fortunates,

Some cooking stuff

Oookay, so, i really love to cook, it takes a bit of stress away and i like to bake my own stuff rather than buy it ready at supermakets and such :D

This time my nightly (yes i like to cook late night, i am that weird) cooking has made me try a new cupcake recipe, a brown sugar one, yum! *.*

I always find nice recipes on food blogs ( i can make a post about my fav ones later, so this one won't get so long ^^") and this time i went on Bake Or Break - Adventures Of An Amateur Baker blog, wich i absolutely LOVE, it's simply delishouuus! There you can find great recipes to brighten up your day and your tummy..like i said, i went for the Brown Sugar Pound Cakes with Brown Sugar Cream Cheese Frosting, and being boldie as i am, i've baked it with an egg less and adding a tsp of vanilla extract, that gave me an excellent fluffy result, but you can always make it without any modification, or with your own ones. ^^

Here are my babiiiies! haha

(before and after frosting)
2 more posts soon to come, so hurray for me!!

That's it for now fortunates,

Mangue Seco Blissfull Weekend With Friends

Alrighty!
I just came back from a brilliant weekend with friends, lots of bugs, beautiful beaches, dunes, and good food :)
On the last minute, when i thought i'd have to spend the weekend sitting home doing nothing, a good friend of mine called and asked if i wanted to go with them to his beach house in Mangue Seco, Sergipe, right after Bahia. Honestly at first i thought i wouldn't go, but then i had to ask myself for a better reason why not to, cause i had literally nothing to do at home and even though i do not love to go to the beach, it couldnt be such a bad option after all..and there i went, and there's no regrets! :)
You know, when you think you say a lot of "no" and not so many "yes" to things, you should try to re-think that. Saying more yeses gives you more oportunities and a lot more good memories. I'm saying this cause i think of myself as someone who usually says more "no" than "yes", or i used to do so. I just added saying more yes on my ever lasting to do list, along with the less partying and more travelling i mentioned before.

It was great seeing friends i havent seen in such a long time, have a good laugh at pretty much all times and just chill :)
On the first day we chilled at the beach close to the house till the sun was almost out. It was a good way to start.. day two was the day of the confederate cup's finals! we watched it together while me and two others were cooking dinner and preparing a evening BBQ, that after another whole day at this beach called Ponta do Saco, where river meets the sea, yup, we had it all!!

(day one - chillin' at the beach in front of our house)
(day 1 - never ending beach )

(playing with my shadow)

(good way to cool it off)

To get to Ponta do Saco beach on the second day, we rented two dune buggies, crossed the dunes and after about 15 to 20 mins we finally got there. If you have the chance to visit this place, know that there's no eletric energy at the beach or bars with it hahaha there's only a floating bar and a few other bars on the beach, but other than that there's not much at the beach. It is suuuch a paradise, a place to go and forget about everything else. It's quite deserted really, you wont see many people there, wich is nice (i like deserted places, quiet places).

(top left - beach on the way to ponta do saco, bottom left - ponta do saco river side, right - me playing with wood!)

(all pictures of the riverside)

(top left, one of the bars exterior. right, kids playing at the river. bottom left, part of the floating bar.)
(left pictures are of the river side, right ones, of the sea side)

The real treat was the sunset on the way back home at the dunes though, it was amaaazing! *.*

(views of the way back)

(on the buggy)

(beautiful sunset at the dunes)

After such relaxing day, cooking that dinner was easy!! ;) And also fun, cause Brazil won the match against Spain. (i still think that was bought though...) We ate like hell, drinked a whole lot of wine and went to bed already missing the weekend that was just ending..still, what a great one it was!! Perfect touch to my summery winter.

Next time i write here i'll most likely be back in Rio.. winter break is almost over :'' So sorry for the extremely long post, but i wanted to show as much as i could of this lovely place. Hope you enjoy and that onde day you can visit this paradise yourself :))

ps.all the pictures were taken by me, yesshhhh.

Jess

Revlon Nail Varnish

Helloooo,
So it's been raining all day and i barely had anything to do. I came home without my nail supplies only to find out my mom doesnt have any, yay mom!
Well, i couldn't stay with the nails undone so i rushed to the drugstore and treated myself with some nice nail varnishes :)
Both were cheaper than usual and the colours are quite nice!

The one i'm using at the moment is number 560, Zealous. The second one is the 320,Ocean Breeze :) One interesting fact about the second one is that it is supposed to be scented when it dries, i don't know yet cause i havent tried it.

The 560, zealous applied :)
Along with my beeautiful nail varnishes i bought  some "beauty candy" only because i never seen it before (curioussss), it's ment to be the kind of candy that does you good, if that's even possible!( i hope so, cause i have a sweet tooth) i'll upload the pic of it lateer.

The rain continues and my plans of going out just got ruined by it, hurray! I'll just bake a cake...

I literally just finished reading "Silver Linings Playbook" and i must say that considering how the film went out, the book surprised me quite a lot! Must i say that i loved how the story of the misfit Pat Peoples kept going on and on through his crazy "delusions" and just how things turned out beautifully in some way ^^" I wont spoil it here guys, don't worry! You have to read it yourself if you wanna know the true story =P

You know what? I think in the end life can be really crapy, but if you look hard enough you'll see there are some silver linings ;) And oon to the new nice place i went to visit todaay :)
Paquetá is not a very exciting place considering the dirty water from the beach and the smell of horse poop/dog poop....it is though such a calm place that you put these things said before aside so you can go there for a day relax a bit, get out of the crazy daily rush from the city of Rio.

It is a really small island 50/60 from Rio, you get a ferry from Rio (Praça XV) to Paquetá and only pays 4,80 reais for the ticket. You can go there for a great relaxing weekend as well, one of those you want to just lay down all day without the city sounds, read a good book and again, relax.

Overall is not such a bad scenery, see?! :) Even though, there are some other places in the state of Rio, like Ilha Grande that will serve you the same way and it's a hundred times prettier and enjoyable than Paquetá, then again, since it is this better, it is more expensive and there are a lot more tourists, etc etc. (I'll make a post about Ilha Grande here some time in the future ;) )

Anyway, my next travelling destination will be Bahia, my lovely homestate and on to my hometown, Salvador :) Maybe i'll make a post about it as well, if i'm not too busy being lazy enjoying the comfort of my home and my parents food :D

I'll see you soon,

Cheerie Cheers,

Jess ;)

End of Semester

The end of the semester is here and i am honestly going insane, between trying to apply for an exchange program and finishing the university semester nicely (wich is not happening), things don't seem very promising sometimes...but maybe that's just me whining around =P Turns out that studying fashion design is more troublesome than most of you might think, you trade day for nights, but not so you can go party, no sir!!

It was all about days staying up all night, researching abou the sea, florals and pastel colors, so i can make a full collection for a determined brand out of it.

Well, i guess all the hardwork paid off in the end, i'm loving my collection despite all the hours of sleep i have to catch up!! hahaha
I am only concentrating all of my energies on the fact that a week from now, i'll be FREE, VACATION wohoooo, i'll be able to go travelling around, maybe go to Minas Gerais here in Brasil and travel around the state or maybe i'll just travel around the small cities of the state of Rio de Janeiro, either way, i need a good vacation!!
I'll post all about that here (promise) since i'll have plenty of time to do so :)
Thought i'd leave you with a little preview of what came up to be my "CampoMar" collection for the brazillian brand, Checklist.

Cheerie Cheers,

Jess.

Havent been around, i knooow

Well, hellooo! :)

I know i havent been present these past few weeks, but, it was for a good reason! haha All sorts of things have been happening in my life, i took the first part of a very important test today and tomorrow is part two. I've been anxious like helllllllll, tired like helllll and sweing too.
As a fashion design student, we just started making a dress using moulage technique, wich is quite exciting, so my nails arent its best =P Also, i did visit another pretty interesting place and i will be talking about it here!!
I am more a zumbie now than ever! hahaha Still, i am working out the content about this place i visited so i can post it here, since i'll be travelling next week, i'll probably only post it by next wed.....but fear not dear readers, it will be here soon ^^

Places You Should Go At Least Once | Arpoador - Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro

Amazing views of the amazing city of Rio de Janeiro, one of the most beautiful sunsets you'll ever see and beautiful people! These are some of the great perks of going to the Arpoador Stone to watch the Sunset. (or,  you can go to a Lual and maybe see the sunrise :), i'm sure both night and daily views of the city from Arpoador are just breath taking!)

During the weekends, the place will definetly be pretty crowded, but if you go on a monday afternoon for example, it will be much more confortable and you'll have more space to admire the views from the stone.
Let me tell you the water of all the beaches in Rio is just...well, ice cold for me! (i'm too warm blooded) also, the waves are almost always rough and strong so, if you're a surfer, feel free, but if not, i do not recommend =P
The sun on the other hand, is always available! So make sure you enjoy it properly!
Is very easy to go from Ipanema to Copa walking, but with a sight like that...why bother?!

Anyways, i've decided i have to enjoy more life and the surroundings, i mean, i am lucky enough to live in Rio when sooo many people would like to be in my shoes ^^" BUT, Since i have a life and can't just travel all around or just enjoy days like that everyday, i'll still make myself a promise, that at least once a week, i have to go somewhere beautiful, fun and simple, like that....and then, i'll keep the registration of that here. :) In case you are wondering why, it's just i realized i spend too much money on parties and bars, etc.(superficial things and places) while i spend almost nothing going to beautiful, enjoyable places like Arpoador, or even making small trips to places nearby, even though i absolutely LOVE to travel and think that i can learn and gain MUCH MORE from travelling and seeing good places than spending money with material shit or alcohol, also, i do believe that doing that, my daily happiness will increase and thus i'd be more relaxed hahaha. (cudos for me, lol)
That being said, hope you enjoy the tip and can put that place on your list ;)

Cheerie Cheers
